*400mL dustbin: The dustbin was filled with small plastic particles until it overflowed. An empty dustbin and the dustbin filled with plastic particles were weighed separately with an electronic scale. Their difference in weight (i.e. the weight of the plastic) divided by the density of the plastic equalled the volume of the dustbin. All test results were ≥ 400mL.
*270mL water tank: The water tank was filled with water first; then the water in the tank was emptied into a measuring cylinder. The volume of the water poured into the measuring cylinder equalled the volume of the water tank. All test results were ≥ 270mL. The water tank volume may differ by up to 5% due to manufacturing processes; this is in the normal range.
